Our Partnership

Food for the Hungry has served Zeway since 2004. The current FH staff of approximately 40 Ethiopians facilitates the provision of food, clothing, shelter, school supplies and uniforms, health care, job skills training and more. The FH social workers meet with the children weekly, and provide ongoing counseling, support, training and encouragement.

The local Zeway church community provides a large number of volunteers to work alongside the FH staff in providing this care and sharing the love of Christ with those most in need. In addition, the local church is providing training on adoption and Biblical orphan care to their congregations, and families are stepping up to adopt some of these children.

We know the names and faces of the orphans and intercede regularly on their behalf through prayer. The Austin church provides financial support for the Partnership, travels regularly to Zeway to visit orphans and provides ongoing training to the Zeway churches and FH. Past training topics include grief and loss counseling, orphan care and adoption, jewelry-making skills, and more.
